Safe Shelter Symposium on Domestic Violence

April 24

Through multiple sessions and plenaries lead by outstanding experts in their field, this symposium will explore the neurological, physical and mental health impact of trauma on children and youth, current research and developmentally appropriate promising approaches and treatment practices for professionals and organizations. With a Keynote that sets the stage for the day (Ana do Valle, founder of the Soma Healing Center), the morning sessions will focus on early childhood treatments using wrap around and culturally effective approaches. The afternoon will include elementary-aged and teen years. The day will end with a panel and Q&A.

Safe Shelter’s 2020 symposium will offer skill building content for regional professionals representing mental and physical health, social work, clinical and nontraditional practitioners, child welfare advocacy, foster care, law and court systems, K-12 education and research. Anyone interested in understanding and healing the impact of domestic abuse on children is encouraged to attend.
